| Spring Camp '97 Catalina Island | |
| Here are images from our YMCA Indian Guide Spring Campout. This is White's Landing on the north shore of Catalina Island. There are wild buffalo roaming around. We did not actually see any, but the evidence was certainly there (Watch your step!). | |

Here is a view inside the tent. (Who is that silly boy with a Gameboy growing out of his hand?) |

This was the campfire on Saturday night. That guy is YMCA director Dave Powell. In the background you can see some tents lit up by moonlight. Behind Dave over the hills was comet Hale-Bopp. |

I brought my Astrocam rocket to Catalina. I launched it three times. The first time I had to crawl under a barbed wire fence to retrieve it. Somehow, I messed up that exposure. The second flight resulted in the rather boring picture above. On it's third, ill fated flight, it went horizontal under power and disappeared into the bushes. With the help of sharp-eyed Mark Everett I recovered the rocket, found with its nose buried in the ground. I have repaired it for further "fun". |
