Raingutter Regatta '97
Reseda Park

Being our first time at this, we had no idea what to do. Fortunately, hardly anyone else does either. You make your boat from a kit. The hull is carved foam. A lot of hand work in this. Then you arrive at the "lake" at Reseda Park, set your sail as best you can (the only skill in sailing it) and submit your craft to the officials. At race time we had a good breeze. We put our boat in the water, it darted off and prompty touched another boat, turned, and headed straight back to shore. We tried again but it kept touching other boats and going off course. It was fun, but let's face it, it was all a matter of luck.
